The West Indies is currently a hub of excitement as cricket fans from all over the world turn their eyes to the one one of the sporting world's most exciting cricket tournaments - the ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
The tournament will run until May 16th and expectations are high in the third annual competition of this series.
All in all, 12 seeded teams began the tournament in four different groups, made up as follows:
Group A: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia
Group B: Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Zimbabwe
Group C: South Africa, India, Afghanistan
Group D: West Indies, England, Ireland
Pakistan are the current champions and carry a well deserved title after defeating Sri Lanka in the last final.
However, both Sri Lanka and Australia are keen to impress the crowds after they gave poor performances in 2009.
Betting on this cricket extravaganza is high and bookies have reported record wagering activity as punters flock to back their favorite teams.
Some of the most current markets have odds of 7/2 on Australia as the outright winner (Ladbrokes), 5/1 on South Africa (Sky Bet and Tote Sport) and 9/1 on England (Bet 365).
It seems that the current favorite to win the competition, however, is Australia. |
