The solid gold World Cup has been on an international journey, spanning 86 countries and 225 days, coming to a stop on the African continent.
The cup's first stop in the coastal province of KwaZulu Natal was the Suncoast Casino in Durban where it was lovingly welcomed by a large crowd with shouts and cheers.
The Cup then went on to Umlazi Mega City, before heading to Richards Bay.
Yesterday saw its final stop in the province with a visit to Pietermaritzburg.
"We have seen so much oomph from the citizens and it is a great privilege," said the General Manager of the 2010 FIFA World Cup of Coca Cola South Africa, Onwell Msomi.
"People from various backgrounds, young and old, have come to witness the moment and take pride in the country hosting the tournament," he added.
Durban was thrilled to be the first stop in the province and municipality mayor, Obed Mlaba said: "We are honoured to be part of the world."
"We are crazy about sport in general, which is why we have branded Durban as the sporting capital," he said.
