March 7 - Will it be another nightmare weekend for South African Super 14
rugby fans or will we somehow squeeze a couple of victories from what looks like
an impossible task?
Bulls v Lions
I almost forgot. At least we're assured one South African victory. The
Biltong brigade will flock to Loftus in their droves, knowing that this is
possible a rare opportunity for victory in what is looking like a nightmare
season. With Habana and Bakkies back the Bulls should take it easily.
Bet the margin at
Ladbrokes.com
- Bulls by 6-10 points at 5/1 looks good.
Highlanders v Wellington Hurricanes
The Hurricanes showed signs of a revival last weekend but the Highlanders
youngsters will be no pushover and the have their skipper back. Even though
Ladbrokes has
the Canes as favorite we sniff an upset. Highlanders by 5 at 7/1 looks very
good.
Natal Sharks v Auckland Blues
The match of the round and South African's will be watching those one with
interest. The Sharks can only get better. The Blues have looked awesome. A lot
rides on Michalak v.s. Evans and we think the Frenchman may just have got used
to the humidity in Durbs by now. The Sharks will get in their face like they did
in the semis last year. Sharks to take a close one with another couple of late
scores. Ladbrokes
has the Sharks as the underdog - 15/8
NSW Waratahs v ACT Brumbies
Another cracker in the waiting. Those Brumbies youngsters played great rugby
last weekend but Aussie Stadium will prove too tough a prospect and should win.
but someone is going to forget to read the Brumbies the script and the
youngsters will cause an upset (2/1 at Ladbrokes). You heard it here first.
Queensland Reds v Western Stormers
This will be the Stormers' best chance of victory on the road and let's face
it, the Reds are as crap as eve. If Grant can overcome the yips, we sense a bit
of a blowout. Stormers by 11-15 at 12/1 looks like good money.
Waikato Chiefs v Free State Cheetahs
Too much for the Cheetahs Chiefs at a canter.
Western Force v Canterbury Crusaders
The purple people will be back home but are they happy to be there? Their
record on the road is much better than at home which is hardly surprising
considering home is a cricket oval. Robbie Deans is up against his old mate
Mitchell, but this Red and Black lot are just way too much for anyone to handle.
Look out. Blow out.
