April 6 - Western Force and Reds kicked off the weekend's Super 14 games at Subiaco Oval in Perth on Friday, with the Force registering a massive 39-7 victory over the Reds.
Even though the Reds fought fiercely, they were up against a desperate and determined Force, and they inevitably succumbed to their second successive defeat in the tournament.
This outcome pushed the Force up to ninth position, and saw the Reds move from the top 10 to twelfth position on the table.
The Bulls seem to have lost their winning mojo, facing their second straight defeat on Saturday, after the Crusaders beat them 16-13.
The loss also crushed their hopes of becoming the first South African team to have won in Christchurch in 13 years, but it hasn't pushed the Bulls off the top grouping in the log, thanks to a consolation bonus point.
Despite the efforts of the Bulls, the Crusaders got off to a stunning start, and kept it up throughout the match, handing them their third successive win in the tournament.
Saturday didn't get off to a good start for the South African sides, as the Lions fell prey to the Chiefs with a 36-29 defeat in Hamilton.
The Lions, expecting to be destroyed by the Chiefs, gave a strong performance, leading 29-10, giving their fans hope of a win, but the Chiefs proved to be the stronger side and fought back in the final 20 minutes, taking victory.
The Stormers didn't do much better in Sydney in their match against the Waratahs, leaving their hopes of reaching the play-offs blowing in the wind.
The Waratahs shattered the Stormers with a 12-6 defeat, securing the Waratahs a position in the top four on the log, and helping them win their 11th successive victory at the Sydney Football Stadium
Following the Cheetahs losing track record, there wasn't much faith that this South African side could take the nation out of their losing streak in Bloemfontein.
However, this seemed possible, as at half time the Cheetahs and Brumbies were neck and neck at a score of 13 all, renewing South Africa's optimism. But at the 47th minute, the Brumbies scored a try preceded by 3 tries in 10 minutes which broke the Cheetahs' stride, leaving the home side with a 40-27 defeat.
It was all up to the Sharks to replenish the faith of the South African fans in Durban, and at times it looked like it was anyone's game. The home team chose to keep the near sell-out crowd biting their nails until the 78th minute, when they took the game with a 33-17 victory over the Hurricanes.
But the Hurricanes weren't prepared to hand the Sharks the game on a silver platter, and made them work hard for the win, but ultimately had to accept defeat, and ensured that the Sharks remain top of the log.
