April 22 - An impressive 26-6 win to the Blues, put them in the top four on the table, and quashed the Highlanders hopes of a play-off in Auckland on Friday.
Not only did the Blues leave the field victorious, they also received the Gordon Hunter Memorial Trophy and five well deserved points.
The Brumbies followed suit, ensuring their 32-31 win over the Bulls keeps their play-off dreams alive.
The Bulls were dominant for the first 70 minutes of the game, but dropped the ball in the final 10, which cost them the top spot on the log, in a match that they should have won.
Keeping up with Friday's trend, the Hurricanes kept the South African Stormers at bay, with a 34-11 win in Wellington on Saturday.
The Stormers played an untidy and careless game, with some of their major players seemingly disinterested, giving the Hurricanes the advantage, and renewing their eagerness of final play-offs.
It should have been a walk in the park for the Reds against the Lions in Brisbane on Saturday - after all, the Reds were the first team in the tournament to beat the then unbeaten Sharks.
But the Reds were about to enter the Lions den, and were devoured by a 31-20 loss, moving the Lions to 11th on the log, lifting South Africa's spirits, with their determined play, and an impressive hat-trick from wing Henno Mentz, securing their win.
Western Force took a nail-biting win against the Waratahs in Sydney on Saturday, being only the second team in two years to beat them at the Sydney Football Stadium.
The 15-14 victory leaves the Waratahs with a consecutive loss, after the Bulls beat them at the same stadium last week.
An invigorated Cheetahs team took the Chiefs off-guard, by leading 13-10 in the first 13 minutes of their game in Kimberley on Saturday.
But the Chiefs broke the Cheetahs stride, when they conceded two late tries, making a final score of 28-10, taking their sixth successive win, placing them top of the log, and a certainly a place in the play-offs.
The Crusaders are determined to end off the 2009 Super 14 tournament with the trophy in their hands. And this may be even more evident after their attack on the Sharks in Durban on Saturday, leaving the field with a 13-10 victory over the local coastal boys.
Even though the win for the defending champions only moved them up to 8th place on the log, it has certainly ruffled some feathers, and left the once log-leaders, in rough waters.
