May 26 - Four worthy teams fought to the bitter end, but only two would come out victorious, to face one another in the ultimate challenge ? the 2009 Super 14 final.
The weekend's semi-finals kicked off with the Chiefs against the Hurricanes in Waikato Stadium, Hamilton on Friday. Both teams had so much to prove, and this was their last chance to do so.
But it was the Chiefs who proved to be the stronger of the two, with their dreams of being in their first ever Super 14 final becoming a reality, by beating the Hurricanes 14-10.
The loss for the Hurricanes, meant that this would be the fourth time since 2003, that they would get no further than the semi-finals. But they go home, with their heads held high, sitting 3rd on the log.
All eyes were on Saturday's game between the Bulls and the Crusaders. There was so much at stake for both teams. The Bulls were the Super 14 champions in 2007, and the Crusaders were champions in 2008, and both teams weren't about to give up their chance at playing for the trophy once again.
But the night belonged to the Bulls, and they walked away with the last spot in the finals, with a 36-23 victory over the Crusaders.
The victory for the Bulls not only placed them top of the log, but gave them their second final in three years, and their 10th successive Super Rugby conquest at Loftus.
The Chiefs will have to travel to South Africa, to face the Bulls on their home soil, for the ultimate final of the 2009 Super 14 tournament.
The Bulls will win - so why not bet on it at Victor Chandler VCBet?
