March 17 - The Blues and Vodacom Cheetahs were the first of the past weekend's games for Round 5 the Super 14 in North Harbour.
The Blues beat the Cheetahs 46-12, making the Cheetahs the only team without a win, and pushing the Blues up to 4th on the championship table.
The Brumbies beat their fellow Australians, the Waratahs, with a 21-11 defeat, breaking their unbeaten record, of four consecutive wins. Despite their loss, the Waratahs still maintain their position of 2nd on the log.
Saturday began with a 23-23 draw between the Crusaders and Western Force in Christchurch. The Crusaders kept the Force at bay with a 23-9 lead in the second half, but the Force pushed hard, and completed an exciting comeback, resulting in a draw.
In Invercargill, the Highlanders and Chiefs went head to head, with the Chiefs dominating the game with a 14-10 win.
The second upset of the day on Saturday was between the Reds and Sharks in Brisbane. The Reds tamed the Sharks with a 25-13 win, making this the Sharks first loss in the tournament. The Reds now move into 10th spot on the log, and the Sharks remain in their number 3 position.
The weekend wrapped up with two South Africa teams challenging each other for the game in Newlands in Cape Town. The Stormers beat the Auto & General Lions by a whopping 56-18 scoreline. Lions captain Cobus Grobbelaar admits that too many unforced errors were committed, which he feels cost them the game.
