March 3 - The surprise win of the weekend was in the game between the Hurricanes and the Crusaders. The 30-24 score in Christchurch, left Hurricane supporters elated, while the Crusaders five year unbeaten record was finally destroyed.
The Highlanders joined their fellow New Zealander's in defeat, losing 16-34 to the Waratahs. The Sydney team crushed their own record of nine successive wins in a row at home, and their third straight win of the season, unlike their opponents the Highlanders, which have yet to win a match this season.
The nail biter match of the weekend has to go to the Sharks vs the Chiefs on Saturday in Hamilton. After a 22-15 win, the Sharks remain undefeated in this season, thanks to an impenetrable forward line, and several fateful TV referee decisions.
Western Force entered the record books, when they beat the Brumbies in a 25-16 victory in Canberra. Thanks to Cameron Shepherd's hat-trick of tries, they sealed the Brumbies fate with their first win in Canberra, and only second loss to an Australian team in the Brumbies Super Rugby history.
The Bulls, currently at the top of the log, beat the Lions by a comfortable 16-9 scoreline. Saturday's match now makes it four defeats in a row for the Lions against the Bulls.
The Blues beat the Stormers, with a 14-8 victory in, Cape Town, the Stormers home town, making it the Blues second win in the 2009 Super 14, pushing them to number 5 in the log.
The Reds sent the Cheetahs to the bottom of the log with their 22-3 victory in Brisbane.
Even though the Cheetahs hardly put up a fight, the Reds' dismal handling skills denied them additional tries. This loss takes the Cheetahs' bleak record to an embarrassing 17 losses in a row away from South Africa.
