September 11 - When the thousands of tourists descend on South Africa next
year to enjoy top quality soccer action in the FIFA World Cup 2010 tournament,
they will also be seeking to combine their visit with some of the great things
that this country has to do and see.
One of the destinations that is gearing up for a mass tourist descent is one
of South Africa's foremost gambling locations - Sun City.
Sun City's proximity to one of the venues of the World Cup, Rustenberg, makes
it the perfect place to spend some time enjoying the true wonders of Africa, all
the while experiencing world class gambling entertainment.
There are over 600 slot machines on the casino floors at Sun City, as well as
gaming tables and a private room for high rollers who enjoy the good life.
Sun City attracts an overwhelming three million visitors each year, 60% of
them from abroad. The World Cup is set to tip those numbers even more in favour
of foreign visitors, as soccer enthusiasts seek
African-jungle-meets-Las-Vegas-hype at this sprawling resort.
It seems there is nothing that Sun City cannot offer its visitors. A 550
square kilometre game park is positioned adjacent to the resort, while
delightful themed hotels, artificial jungles boasting over one million trees and
plants and water parks keep visitors entertained 24/7.
"Once gaming laws were relaxed, nobody would drive from Johannesburg just to
gamble, so we changed," said a spokeswoman for Sun City Nokutula Nkosi. "There
are very few places that can offer as much as we can here."
Some may argue that Sun City is the ultimate in kitch, an artificial resort
in the middle of the African jungle. Yet once you spend a day at this
magnificent location, you cannot help but come out in awe of the brilliance of
the architecture, the forethought put into every detail and the desire to
provide unbeatable, non stop pleasure to anyone who walks through its doors.
