November 2 - The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has confirmed that it has
selected a squad of players who will start training for the HSBC Sevens World
Series that will kick off in Australia at the end of the month.

The provisional team met in Stellenbosch recently and there was excitement
all around in anticipation of the HSBC Sevens World Series that will start on
November 25th and be played along Australia's Gold Coast.
Stellenbosch will act as the training team's base until coach Paul Treu will
announce his final travelling squad of 12 on November 11th.
Popular online sports betting sites such as

will be offering odds on the competition nearer to the time.
There are four newcomers to the Springbok Sevens training squad named.
One of them is Stephan Dippenaar who was released from his provincial contract
with the Vodacom Blue Bulls to sign a two year contract with the Springbok
Sevens.
The other three are Cornal Hendriks who is utility back for the Regent Boland
Cavaliers, Dirk Dippenaar who plays wing for Tukkies and Reuben Johannes, the
talented DHL Western Province under-21 hooker.
There are currently five injured players who will continue with
rehabilitation under the supervision of the Springbok Sevens management team.
They include Craig Barry, Pieter Engelbrecht, Thotsho Mbovane and Branco du
Preez, as well as the IRB Sevens Player of the Year, Cecil Afrika.
Springbok Sevens Coach Excited about Squad
Springbok Sevens Coach, Treu said about the first training session: "It was
so great to see of them together again because quite a few of them were involved
in the Absa Currie Cup. You could immediately sense the excitement and energy
and we will work flat out to ensure we are in good condition and well prepared
when we depart to Australia on November 18."
The series will run on November 25th and 26th in November in Australia,
before moving on to Dubai, before reaching South Africa in December (9th and
10th).
