January 19 - The excitement of the South African horse racing industry will soon be reaching further corners of the world, thanks to a lucrative new deal signed between a German horse racing betting channel and Astra digital media company.
The Munich based e8 television, a horse racing betting channel, said that it would be covering races from all parts of the globe, including South Africa, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and Dubai, to name just a few.
The German betting channel said that it would launch on Astra and will be available as a free to air service on Astra Platform Service's digital package.
e8 television said that it had been running regular and successful test transmissions off the digital company's platform since the middle of 2008, and the time had now come to launch the 'real thing'.
Betting on e8 television is very simple, allowing players to wager on horses that they think will win from any of the events covered in the world, including South Africa.
Betting, however, is not the only available pastime on the channel. e8 television also said that it would bring bettors up to date information about the horse racing industries from around the globe, including interviews with jockeys, information about horses and their riders, and guest commentators who will bring their opinions about particular jockeys and the races.
It is believed, in this way, that South Africa's horse racing industry will receive more exposure than ever before, thanks to the new betting channel.
