September 12 - The days where one could only find a kiosk or two at their favorite casino complex are long gone, as operators understand that the experience needs to encompass a wide range of entertainment options - including dining!
It is only natural that if there are good restaurants on site at a casino complex, the gambler will spend more time at the casino, taking a break from his or her gambling session for a good meal and then continue on a full stomach.
Recently, a list was compiled that showed the casino complexes around the world that had the largest number of restaurants on location, and we were proud to see that our very own Sun City tops the list. In addition, another South African casino, Gauteng's Montecasino also made the list at sixth place.
Nobody can argue that Sun City is one of the most beautiful and all-encompassing casino complexes in the world. Tourists flock to this entertainment kingdom to enjoy the magnificent African scenery, world class shows and gambling halls that meet the standard of every top complex around the globe.
It is not surprising then, that Sun City has to feed these masses and, according to the list, there are 35 restaurants in this casino complex. Cuisine from practically every part of the world is represented on the list of restaurants offered to customers, ranging from Asian to Italian.
The restaurants are located in the main Sun City Hotel (where the casino is housed!) or in the other hotels on site, including the Cascades, the Cabanas and the Palace of the Lost City.
Sixth on the list, Montecasino also makes South Africa proud with its entry. Situated in Johannesburg, Montecasino boasts 27 restaurants, ranging from sea food, Chinese, Italian and a host of others.
The United States had the most entries on the list of top ten, with second place going to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut (31 restaurants), Foxwoods (2) tying for third place with the Malaysian Genting, Las Vegas Caesar's Palace (25) at seventh place and the Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and Planet Hollywood, all Las Vegas casinos tying for tenth place with 23 restaurants.
