17 - Last month South African hotel and casino tycoon, Sol Kerzner,
honoured the memory of his son at moving memorial service to celebrate the life of
42-year old Butch Kerzner
who died in a freak helicopter crash.
As the Chairman of Kerzner International, Sol and many other friends and
colleagues whose lives were touched over the years by Butch, spoke at the
grief-stricken memorial service held at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in
The Bahamas.
New Kerzner CEO, Paul O?Neil said, 'Everyone who knows Butch is missing him. He
was such a remarkable person and I will miss him for the rest of my life.'
The Kerzner family decided to hold a memorial service in The Bahamas because of
the impact Butch made on the lives of many Bahamians.
During the short service, even the Bahamian Prime Minister, Perry Christie,
reflected on the interest that Butch took in supporting Bahamians.
Butch Kerzner is survived by his mother Maureen, his wife Vanessa, children Tai
and Kailin, Sol and his siblings.
Sol Kerzner is most famous amongst South Africans for constructing
Sun City in the late 1970's in the
then homeland of Bophuthatswana.
