 May 28 - May has turned out to be an exceptional month for South African sports,
from the Bulls and the Sharks making it to the finals of the Super 14 rugby
tournament last weekend to local golfer Rory Sabbatini who rolled in a 15ft birdie to
win the Colonial Invitational yesterday.
Sabbatini kept his cool and concentration as he faced a play-off yesterday on
the 18th hole against golfing greats, Germany's Bernhard Langer and American,
Jim Furyk, at the 2007 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Golf Tournament in
Fort Worth, Texas.
All three of the golfers shot matching 67s in the final round of the
tournament, resulting in the three-way playoff on a course water-logged by rain
throughout the event.
Sabbatini, in fact, made his final and winning stroke in heavy rain to clinch
his fourth career PGA victory.
Said Sabbatini after his victory, 'I am thrilled to have won the 2007 Colonial Invitational and am grateful to my family and friends for all of their
support. Tonight we are going to celebrate!'
