December 16 - Santos is scheduled to play Jomo Cosmos on December 20th in the
South Africa Premier Soccer League matches. As of now, it is not known who will
emerge the winner, but both teams should benefit from win with the additional
points.
Will Santos Make a Difference Against AmaZulu?
Santos has not been doing well in its past matches, and there is much hope
that Duncan Crowie, the ex Santos player who was famous for his skills on the
field now turned manager of the Santos team, will bring a victory for them.
Santos is stuttering and struggling to put up a strong performance and take home
a draw or win, but has not fared well thus far.
Santos’ next match will be against AmaZulu on the 16th of December and will
be a part of the Absa Premiership. After that Santos is scheduled to take on
Jomo Cosmos on the 20th of December at the Sinaba Stadium.
After the bad results, management of the Santos Football Club decided that
the coach was the problem and chose to replace Boebie Solomons by Crowie.
Solomons had served the club as Head Coach for a long time but is now to be
replaced for the final matches of 2011 by Crowie. But whether Crowie’s
leadership will make a difference in Santo’s matches against AmaZulu and Jomo
Cosmos remains to be seen.
Crowie is excited about the new decision and is planning on steering the team
as coach and help them to put up a strong performance. Crowie had served as the
team’s manager in the 90’s.
“It’s my first game as a coach in many years for Santos and one I’m looking
forward to. I have been asked if I will be making changes, and yes I will be
making changes. There will be a slight change in the formation, with the idea to
whoever plays behind the striker to get up and join me as much as possible.
Numbers in the box will create opportunities,” he said.
Crowie believes that he will be easily assimilated into the team since he has
already worked with the staff and team players on other occasions. “The good
thing for me is that since rejoining Santos four or five years back, I have
always been part of the technical team, in the team talks, and for the last year
on the bench, and this has enabled me to keep up with the team and the coaching
trends. I know what the players are about, the players’ behaviour on the field,
off the field,” he added.
Sportingbet is hosting odds on this match and the details will be available
closer to the date.
