December 2 - The poker industry's largest gaming site, PokerStars has made it easier for South Africans to place bets with the poker room by introducing UKash as an alternative payment method.
South African consumers are now able to fund their accounts with UKash, which is considered one of the safest and most reputable prepaid cash methods in the world.
"PokerStars is a market leading company and a global giant in the poker market," said the Chief Executive Officer of Ukash, Mark Chirnside. "UKash is already well established in South Africa and we are pleased to be extending our existing global partnership with PokerStars by offering our payment method to our customers in this market."
"As a company, UKash continues to sign strategic deals around the world as we extend our global footprint, in the pursuit of making online shopping available to anybody, everywhere in the world," added Chirnside.
UKash is already an established brand in the South African market and has been used by quite some time by online casino players as their favored form of payment for their internet gambling entertainment.
It is estimated that there are hundreds of thousands of poker fans who play at Pokertars in South Africa, and the choice of an alternative payment method means that these players can pay for their fun anonymously and safely, using cash instead of their debit or credit cards.
UKash is currently available in more than 26 countries around the world, South Africa included, with more than 300,000 physical retail points.
Its numbered vouchers are available through payment terminals in Europe, South Africa and Australia and can also be purchased from the company's website in a number of European territories.
PokerStars has millions of members from around the world and is continuously in the news as it breaks industry records.
In 2009, it broke a Guinness World Record for holding the biggest ever online tournament.
