January 9 - This week it is expected that a highly competitive bidding war for
license to open a new and extremely lucrative casino in Nelson Mandela Bay, Port
Elizabeth, will kick off in earnest as both local and foreign groups make
presentations to Embo Project Management.
Embo Project Management, a Port Elizabeth-based consortium, confirmed
that it will begin meeting various South African as well as international
companies and consortiums at PE's historical Marine Hotel, that are interested
in forming a partnership to secure the casino license.
Said Embo chairman, Mcebisi Msizi, 'We can confirm that two local casinos and Casino
Association members, Century Casino and Tsogo Sun, as well as two international
groups from the Netherlands and Dubai respectively, have contacted us regarding
appointments.'
Msizi went onto to confirm that up until now, Sun International and Gold Reef City - two
of South Africa's major hotel and casino groups - had not yet confirmed whether
they are interested or not in getting involved with the casino bid for the
Nelson Mandela Bay project.
Embo Project Management consortium is looking to secure the casino license and
form a strategic partnership with another company or consortium. This company is
expected to have good empowerment credentials, a history of dealing with
empowerment shareholders, and excellent casino management and operations
experience, expertise and efficiencies.
