November 10 - Just as US online gambling industry analysts were showing signs of optimism that the market may soon become legalized under an Obama government, a new blow has been dealt.
The online casino software giant, Microgaming, which provides games to casino and poker sites in South Africa and Isle of Man, will block residents of the United States from registering with its sites as of today, Monday, November 10.
Rumors have been flying over the weekend that Microgaming is set to block all US players from its over 100 affiliate sites as from December 1st this year. Offical word still has to come but we have an inside track to Martin and the lads, so we can tell you that Microgaming is pulling out of America.
Some affiliates have stated that Microgaming operators contacted them and told them to stop accepting new players, while others were told that there were plans in place to remove all US players.
Microgaming is used by several top online casino operators, including 32Red, Golden Star Lounge, the Carmen Media Group and the Fortune Lounge Group. The company also runs Microgaming Poker, a successful poker network that includes sites such as DoylesRoom as members.
The software company, originally founded by a group of entrepreneurs based in Durban, has grown into one of the most sought after firms in the world. Its award winning games and software can be found in scores of online casino sites across the globe, and the diversity of its products is one of its strongest selling points.
Microgaming powers some of South Africa's most popular online casino sites, including Piggs Peak (don't waste your time there though), Volcanic Gold Casino and Ladbrokes. All of these sites offer fantastic welcome and reload bonuses totaling thousands of rands, and wow players with their range of games, excellent customer service and generous promotions.
