April 23 - The Indian Premier League promised non stop cricket action for the duration of the tournament and certainly lived up to its promise in the first few days of the event.
After kicking off in a spectacular game on April 18th in Cape Town, the IPL is now moving towards its second weekend of play, and players will be able to enjoy some great matches in the coming days.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will take on the Rajasthan Royals at St. George's Park in Port Elizabeth on Thursday (April 23), while Friday's match will be played out between the King XI Punjabs and the Bangalore Royal Challengers in Johannesburg.
Saturday will see two matches being played (Kolkata Knight Riders versus Chennai Super Kings in Cape Town and Deccan Chargers versus Mumbai Indians in Durban).
Tickets for most of the games may have run out already, but players can watch some true quality cricket live on Supersport.
While the IPL brings exotic Asian cricket to our shores, we shouldn't forget that South Africa has a respectable presence in this tournament, including Makhaya Ntini and Dale Steyn. In addition, our own former Proteas captain, Shaun Pollock is currently coaching the Mumbai Indians.
International cricket icons such as Stephen Fleming and Shane Warne will be showing that true cricket talent is timeless, while some of the most current stars such as Muttiah Mulalitharan will show off their cricketing genius.
IPL odds for the outright winner of the league currently stand on a tie between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils (100/30 each), while odds on the Mumbai Indians are 9/2.
