March 10 - The F.A. Cup has reached the dramatic and exciting quarter-final stage, and all four games look like being absolute crackers from a punting point of view (what other point is there, really?).
We've culled the following match odds from the lads at SportingBet SA. Read our review and sign up to take advantage of their excellent promotions and decent sign up bonus of a R1500 free bet:
FA Cup Betting For Saturday's Games
Birmingham v Bolton 8/5 (home team) 41/20 (draw) 8/5 (away team)
Manchester United v Arsenal 17/20 (home) 12/5 (draw) 11/4 (away)
FA Cup Betting For Sunday's Games
Stoke v West Ham 21/20 (home) 9/4 (draw) 9/4 (away)
Manchester City v Reading 1/3 (home) 7/2 (draw) 7/1(away)
The only result of the four games that appears to be a foregone conclusion is Manchester City to beat Reading. City are at home, eager for some silverware this season, and far better than Reading. The correct odds for this game should be closer to 1/6, in our opinion, making City good value as part of a multiple bet.
Saturday's main game will be United against Arsenal. The Gunners could be vulnerable following their disappointing exit at Barca in the Champions League. They've also has to travel to Spain to play a tough fixture, and now travel to Manchester United, so scheduling and the draw have done them no favours. That being said 17/20 about United's chances seems misguided. A good bet here is the Draw and the Arsenal win. There is very little to choose between these two clubs in a one-off game, and Arsenal will now be very hungry to win the FA Cup, one could argue.
The first quarter final clash could well be won by the home team, when Birmingham host Bolton. Note that Birmingham have excellent cup form this season, already winning the Carling Cup. They should be a shorter price at home, and as a value bet they appeal.
Sunday's other game sees Stoke hosting West Ham. The Hammers are in the best form of their entire season, which isn't saying that much. However, their recent results include wins over Liverpool, and a Premier League thumping handed out to Stoke. West Ham also have solid cup form (they lost in the semis of the Carling Cup to Birmingham). We're going for the away win here as West Ham will continue their recent hot streak.
Our predictions for the Semi-Final line up: Birmingham, Arsenal, Manchester City, and West Ham.
