April 17 - Sports fans can expect cricket action at its finest this week when the much awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) finally kicks off in Cape Town tomorrow (April 18th).
Amidst the glitter and hype of this event, which saw some of India's most famous celebrities flying off to South Africa to take part in the festivities, there promises to be some excellent cricket being played as well!
The competing teams are among the best out there and promise to give of their very best for the duration of the event that will run under May 24th when the final match will be played in Johannesburg.
A decision was made to move the Indian Premier League to South Africa following a clash of dates with general elections in India, and a rush to find an alternative location that would be suitable both weather wise and compatible to local Indian airing time.
Odds are up for the outright winner of the IPL event, and stand as follows at present:
Delhi Daredevils 4/1
Chennai Super Kings 9/2
Mumbai Indians 11/2
Bangalore Royal Challengers 6/1
Kings XI Punjab 7/1
Kolkata Night Riders 7/1
Rajasthan Royals 15/2
Deccan Chargers 10/1
The first match will be played between the Rajasthan Royals and the Bangalore Royal Challengers in Cape Town on Friday at 4pm, followed by an 8 pm. match between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings.
