July 3 -
eCOGRA (eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance) has
announced plans for one of the planet's largest online gambling research
initiatives, in order to compile a comprehensive online gambling report from the
player's perspective.
Highly-trained researchers are expected to collect information from 20 000 via a
quantitative online based survey, supported by qualitative focus groups based in six
of the online gambling industry's major markets.
These are the US, UK, Japan, Canada, Germany and Sweden, where 200
online gamblers in each will be asked their opinions on all aspects of online
casinos and online gambling.
Leading the eCOGRA research are two teams from the University of Las Vegas and
Nottingham Trent University respectively. Both teams will start their online
gambling research in order to make the deadline for eCOGRA's Global Gambler
Report which will be released in January 2007.
The report's contents are expected to focus on online gambler demographics and
online gambling patterns and frequency, as well as the personal, social and
financial consequences of online casinos and gambling online.
eCOGRA is an independent non-profit standards authority for the online gambling
industry, and is committed to protecting online casino and online poker players
around the globe.
