April 30 - Emperor's Palace, one of South Africa's leading
casino resorts, is on schedule with the construction of its new Metcourt
Hotel, which is due to open its doors to the general public in the fourth
quarter of this year.
The new hotel will essentially increase Emperors Palace room offerings by 250
rooms, and will be situated adjacent to the OR Tambo International Airport for
easy access.
When the Metcourt Hotel broke ground in August, 2007, the CEO of the casino
resort's parent company, Peermont, Mr. Anthony Puttergill said: "We are
delighted to be able to grow the number of our hotel rooms at Emperors Palace
from the current 426 to 674 when the Metcourt is complete. The current and
projected air traffic growth at OR Tambo International Airport and the growing
South African economy and subsequent hotel demands by business travelers,
provide us with a unique opportunity to broaden our platform in the rapidly
expanding tourism and convention market at a sustainable level. Emperors Palace
is now indeed one of the leading convention destinations in Gauteng, if not in
South Africa."
Besides three other hotels, Emperors Palace currently boasts a huge casino
floor that offers over 1700 gaming slot machines and nearly seventy gaming
tables, with betting denominations ranging from 5c to R500.
In addition, gamblers can enjoy the convenient Smart Play payment system that
wipes out the need to lug tokens around the casino, as well as MegPay Keno that
can turn R5 into R5 million! From Lucky Bucks mystery jackpots that award random
prizes, to a fast-growing poker vibe that offers daily Texas Hold'em games,
there is something for everyone at this casino.
