January 3 - Early last month, United States-based casino group, Century Casinos,
Inc, celebrated the gala opening of its new casino and resort facility,
Century Casino Newcastle, near the
South African town of Newcastle (KZN) with much fanfare and celebration.
Known as the Century Casino Newcastle, this casino resort (known formerly
as Monte Vista Casino & Conference Centre), is a one-stop gambling,
entertainment, conference and hotel facility aimed at the whole family.
It boasts 12 000 square feet of casino floor space to accommodate
250 slots machines, 6 gaming tables, as well as plenty of top quality food and
beverage facilities and a supervised children's entertainment area.
The Century Casino Newcastle complex also includes a 4-star, 40 room hotel
complete with comprehensive conference facilities, a wellness centre
and spa which offers a wide variety of relaxation and beauty treatments.
The casino's gala opening was attended by local royalty, politicians and
celebrities alike, including King Goodwill Zwelethini, Winnie Mandela and Jacob
Zuma. Guests were treated to an entertainment extravaganza, excellent food and
drink and an impressive fireworks display to cap off the evening.
Said Century Casinos joint CEOs, Peter Hoetzinger and Erwin Haitzmann in a
prepared statement, 'We are extremely proud to have opened this casino resort
for the people of KwaZulu Natal and are pleased to be able to contribute to the
local economy by providing 250 permanent jobs for local residents.'
