April 7 - Paul Campbell, who has extensive experience in the gaming and
entertainment industry, has been appointed the new Managing Director of Century
Casinos Africa. This was according to a statement made by the Colorado Springs,
US-based parent company, Century Casinos, Inc.
Campbell has been involved with the company's South African subsidiary as
General Manager of the popular Caledon Hotel, Spa and Casino for the past two
years. His new role entails a managerial director position over the Caledon
operation, as well as 'Celebrations', a food and beverage company, and Century
Casino Newcastle.
Casino Century owns 60% of Century Casino Newcastle and provides the resort
with technical support.
Paul Campbell is no stranger to the world of gaming and entertainment. For
the past sixteen years, he has worked his way up through several top positions,
including Director of Slots for Storm International in the Russian city of
Moscow, as well as Deputy Slots Manager for Sun International's GrandWest
Entertainment and Casino World in Cape Town.
As a result of Campbell's appointment, Century Casinos made several strategic
changes in leadership roles. The most important was the shifting of Rossouw
Lubbe, who served as Century Casinos Africa's Managing Director since June 2007,
to another position, that will have him focus on other areas, including
corporate governance, strategic compliance matters and Broad Based Black
Economic Empowerment issues.
The CEO's of Century Casinos Inc., Peter Hoetzinger and Erwin Haitzmann, said
in a statement: "This decision is a result of growing dynamic operations in
South Africa and will ensure that our approach to strategic decision making and
corporate governance as well as our commitment to Broad Based Black Economic
Empowerment will be augmented to an even higher level."
