June 26 - Bodog, the online gambling company, recently announced a series of exciting new plans for the expansion of its business into new and existing markets, including South Africa.
The first of these is the announcement of a new poker network that will be run out of Kahnawake, Canada and London, UK. Bodog disclosed that it plans to research other poker networks, in addition to its existing gaming network, in order to improve its current online poker software.
Bodog also has set its sites on the expansion of its franchise businesses into markets in countries where it does not presently maintain operations, initially starting with Latin America and eventually moving into South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. It hopes that it can spark interest in these markets, which are not traditionally big revenue-producers for online gaming.
Two new media ventures were also announced by Bodog: a retail site and a news site for online gambling and online playing. The company expects that the introduction of these two new web sites to increase their brand-name recognition around the world. This is in addition to the developing a coffee branded around the company’s name. The company expects to use well-used business models to help brand its Bodog shops and kiosks, as well as their new Bodog coffee.
Apparently, the news site for online gambling is said to be more of a project for billionaire Calvin Ayre. However, having recently purchase the rights to a well-known coffee brand in South America, Ayre is quite serious about the branding efforts and bringing increased visibility to the Bodog name world-wide.
