May 9 - If the odds at sports betting sites across the internet are anything to go by, rugby player Alan Quinlan won't be joining his team members in the Lions Squad to play in South Africa.
The British and Irish Lions Tour kicks off on May 30th, when the Lions will play against Highveld IV at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace - a magnificent stadium that holds over 40,000 spectators.
Paddy Power predicts that Alan Quinlan will not be traveling to South Africa at the end of the month - offering odds of 1/6 on their website.
A spokesman for Paddy Power said: "It's a horribly nervous time for Alan Quinlan and hopefully he comes through the enquiry unscathed as he is exactly the type of player the Lions need. The betting suggests that he's up against it but we've been wrong before and we will be again."
It is believed that Quinlan will not make the Lions Squad due to the outcome of an investigation still taking place against him where he was accused of gouging the eye of a member of a rival team in Leister during the Munster Heineken Cup Semi Final.
Odds of 7/2 are currently being offered that Quinlan survives the enquiry and visits as planned.
If Quinlan indeed has to remain behind, odds are already been offered over his replacement. The Welsh Captain Ryan Jones comes a close second at 9/4 against the favorite at the moment - the English player Tom Croft at 4/9.
The Lion Tour includes two games against invitational teams to give a greater number of South Africans a chance to face the visiting rugby team.
Events for the Lions Tour will take place on the following dates:
May 30th; June 3rd, June 6th, June 10th, June 13th, June 16th, June 20th, June 23rd, June 27th, July 4th.
South Africans can go to Paddy Power today and start betting on sports online.
