December 28 - Horse racing fans are gearing up for the J&B Met 2012,
one of South Africa's premier horse races, which is scheduled for Saturday 28th
January, 2012 at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town.

The 2012 J&B Met will be the 35th edition of this popular race, and will no
doubt showcase the best horses and jockeys in South Africa. It is expected to
attract a bumper crowd, including many racing fans from abroad.
Sixteen of the best horses of South Africa will compete over a distance of
2000m for whopping purse of R2.5 million. Tickets for the race day are available
at all Gold Circle offices as well as at Kenilworth Racecourse.
In preparation for the big race, South African racebooks and sportsbooks have
already started posting J&B Met odds, which means that punters can get an idea
of the chances of the horses and place well-informed bets.
Igugu is among 34 horses nominated for the J&B Met, how has eight victories
to her name. She'll likely go up against other top-rated runners including
Pierre Jourdan and Dancewiththedevil. Many horse racing fans consider Igugu to
be the finest race horse South Africa has produced in recent years.
Other horses nominated for the J&B Met include The Apache, who finished
fourth at the Summer Cup, Bravura, who won the Green Point Stakes, and English
Garden, the winner of the SA Classic.
Betting fans will also be interested in the L'Ormarins Queen’s Plate, another
popular race which will be run at Kenilworth in early January before the J&B
Met. This race, which has immense historic significance, is contested over
1600m.
