March 3 - Week 3 was hardly a great one for South Africans but at least the
Bulls provided a light at the end of a tunnel and continued their good form. The
Stormers need to lay down a marker is they want to live up to pre-season
promise.

Chiefs (-17) vs Reds (+17) - Hamilton - Friday
The Reds started the season full of promise. Then the injuries hit. Big time.
Sound familiar? The Chiefs have the inspirational Muliaina back at 15. They are
going to run, run and run some more and should cover the spread. Crusaders
by 20 plus.
Brumbies (-19) vs Lions (+19) - Canberra - Friday
Oh dear. This could get nasty. Good to see young Francis get a run in place
of the old man Kiwi. The Lions will score a few. The Brumbies, back home in
their cold town will score a LOT more. Brumbies by 20 plus.
Crusaders (-10) vs Blues (+10) - Christchurch - Saturday
This has all the makings of a cracker and it's hard to call because you never
know what team will pitch up with the Blues. Having said that they showed some
grit last week against the Reds. The head says Crusaders. They are at home and
Mccaw is back but we say only just by less that 5 for the home team.
Waratahs (-9) vs Sharks (+9) - Sydney - Saturday
It's like my Gramps used to say: "I am a believer but I'm not an idiot." The
Sharks on paper look believable but something is wrong with this team. Tahs will
be chomping at the bit. They are back home and at full strength. Waratahs
by 10.
Stormers (-6) vs Highlanders (+6) - Cape Town - Saturday
Last week was the Stormers we have seen in the last few years. Start well,
look really good, struggle to score. screw up, lose. It's like a replay. They
simply have to win and should do so by more than 7.
Cheetahs (-+6) vs Hurricanes (-6) - Bloemfontein - Saturday
The Cheetahs screwed up last week. There is nothing more to say. They have
tried to fix their midfield woes with a reshuffle and some new blood, but they
are untried combinations. The altitude and jetlag could be a problem for the
Hurricanes who have some big names missing. This is do or die for the Cheetahs.
If the don't win this they will win very few other games this year and they know
that. Cheetahs squeak home by less than 5.
Ryan's season record: 15/21 = 72%
